Hong Kong's Best Dog-friendly Shopping Malls

Hey, we get it - hiking might not be for everyone, and with the unpredictability of Hong Kong weather during the summer months, sometimes it's just nice to have a little indoor activity with our pup to escape the heat and indulge in a little shopping. Here's a round up of Hong Kong's best pet-friendly malls, with few other dog-friendly activities in the neighbourhood that you can check out whilst you're at it! *Note: Check out the map below for the full scoop on Hong Kong's pet-friendly spots to visit with your dog!

Central Market

Dogs are welcome at the Central Market, which is also well connected to the walk ways in Central that lead you through to IFC and the outlying ferry piers. Although, like most spots in Hong Kong, dogs aren't currently allowed in restaurants due to Food Business regulations (although this is set to change soon with the latest policy address) outdoor seating is available on the ground floor, where you can enjoy a meal with your pup from any of the eateries.

D2 Place

D2 place were one of the few shopping malls that opened its doors to pet owners before pet-friendly shopping malls became a trend. They offer a pet-friendly rooftop garden for guests and their pets, with play facilities and washing stations, as well as pet-friendly shops and restaurants. One of the biggest draws is PetKoiKoi in D2 Place One, which is Hong Kong's first Japanese-style pet supermarket, with spaces ranging from over 2,000 square feet to over 5,000 square feet! Hopewell Mall

The newly revamped Hopewell Mall welcomes dogs, so long as your dog wears a diaper or is in a carrier or stroller. The biggest draw, however, is the pet store, The Barkyard on the 15th floor, which offers pet services and supplies, grooming services and a nice indoor space for the dogs to play, in addition to a cafe.

Mikiki

One of the earliest shoppings malls to welcome pets is Mikiki in San Po Kong. Stores within the mall that allow pets inside will have a “pets allowed” sign on their entrance doors or storefronts, and guests can acquire a list of stores that welcome pets at the Customer Care Centre.

The Mills

Nan Fung Group do a good job in making their malls as pet-friendly as possible, but The Mills is by far one of their pet-friendliest shopping malls you can visit, and you'll occasionally get more than just dogs and cats visiting too (- we've seen pigs and other exotic pets)! There are a handful of pet-friendly restaurants here, including dim sum and coffee shops, and they also have our favourite pet store, Petisan, and zero waste pet treats store, Hidden Gems.

The Peak Galleria

The Peak Galleria is lucky to be connected to a range of trails coming up from Aberdeen, Pok Fu Lam and Mid-Levels. You can do the Peak Circular Walk, which offers wonderful views of the city and climb up to High West for a neat spot to catch the sunset. The mall itself is now pet-friendly, allowing dogs to walk around. You can visit pet shop, The Barkyard, which offers a range of pet snacks and accessories, as well as offer hydrotherapy and grooming services. The Peak Galleria also has a handful of dog-friendly restaurants. However, as the new licensing laws have not fully come into effect just yet, you may still be restricted to sitting outside with your dog for now.

The Peak Galleria, 118 Peak Road, The Peak | (+852) 2849 4113

The Pulse

The Pulse is the perfect spot for a meal or sundowners at one of the dog-friendly restaurants facing Repulse Bay Beach, after a walk along the nearby Seaview Promenade, which takes you to Deep Water Bay. Although the beach does not allow dogs, you can visit the neighbouring Tin Hau Temple, which also has a tiny beach for the dogs to enjoy a dip in the sea. The Pulse has been known to host events organised by animal charities and is home to local animal shelter, Paws United Charity, so you can swing by to visit their rescue dogs and cats available for adoption.

The Pulse, 28 Beach Road, Repulse Bay | (+852) 2815 8888

Stanley Plaza

Stanley is a great spot to visit with your dog, with a host of dog-friendly restaurants to choose from in the vicinity, as well as several neighbouring dog-friendly beaches and our favourite Water Sports Centre, Hiwind Lover - who are dog-friendly by the way! It's hard to go wrong with Stanley Plaza, who also have an outdoor dog park in the mall, Pet Zone, and pet store, The Barkyard. Don't forget to pay a visit to Gino's Gelato in the square, who do doggie ice creams for HK$18, with proceeds going to local shelter, Hong Kong Dog Rescue.
